Fast Marine — Operations Platform
A two-shop jet ski repair business was run out of the owner’s head — and he was the bottleneck, buried in status calls. We built the platform that fixed it: customers request quotes online, work flows from quote to completed job, and automated SMS keeps everyone updated. The result — less load on the owner, more work orders out the door.
Request a quote
A guest on the website enters their info and watercraft details, uploads photos, and submits a quote request — no account needed.
CustomerQuote & message back
The manager reviews the request, builds a line-item quote, and sends it — with two-way messaging to the customer to settle details.
ManagerBecomes a work order
Once approved, the request flows straight into the work-order pipeline — assigned to a tech with all photos and history attached.
TechWorked & kept updated
The tech works the job and the customer gets automatic SMS updates at every stage — and can text back at any time.
Tech · CustomerReact + TypeScript + Vite SPA — intake site, quoting, and tech/manager dashboards, installable as a PWA
A secure, cloud-hosted database and services powering intake, quoting, work orders, user management, and SMS
Managers and techs see the right views for their role, customers get a secure self-service link, and each shop’s data stays walled off from the others
Every job documented end to end — progress photos, status timelines, history, and customer messaging in one record
The Challenge
- The owner was the bottleneck — buried in status requests and customer calls, the shop could only move as fast as one person could hold in their head
- Two shops’ worth of jobs, status, and customer details living in the owner’s memory
- Paper and text meant lost details, missed follow-ups, and no shared visibility
What We Built
- A public online quote request — guests submit details and photos, get quotes from the manager, and message the shop, all before ever creating an account
- An end-to-end quote → work order → repair → pickup workflow that the request flows into automatically, modeled on the real shop process
- Role-aware dashboards for techs and managers, a customer self-service portal, and two-way SMS at every stage
The Impact
- Removed the owner as the bottleneck — status updates and customer comms are handled by the system, so the shops process more work orders, faster
- Took the mental load off the owner — the shops run on the system, not on one person’s memory
- Every job fully documented, so nothing falls through the cracks and history is always there
Engineered From the Ground Up
No template, no off-the-shelf SaaS bent to fit. We designed the data model, workflows, and architecture from scratch around how these shops actually operate — intake, quoting, the repair lifecycle, multi-shop roles, and documentation — then built and shipped it as a production platform the business runs on every day.
Two-Way SMS — Customers Stay in the Loop
The shop owner was getting blown up with status requests and calls — the single biggest drain on his time. Now every work order keeps the customer updated by text at each stage — quote ready, work started, ready for pickup — automated from status changes. And it’s a real conversation: customers can reply by text and message the shop directly about their job, with inbound texts routed straight to the right work order. The owner is out of the loop on routine updates, freeing him to run the business — and it’s built to handle opt-outs and consent properly.
